Arm Your Agent for Power Platform
Your agent already knows how to code. The plugins teach it Power Platform: one install per asset type, and it builds the way Microsoft intends. About ten minutes, once per machine.

What you're installing
Skills don't ship pre-loaded. They live in plugin marketplaces, which are GitHub repositories your agent reads from. For Power Platform you'll use three:
| Marketplace | What's inside | How you get it |
|---|---|---|
microsoft/power-platform-skills | Power Pages, Canvas Apps, Power Automate, Model-Driven Apps, Code Apps (preview) and more | Add it once per machine |
| Dataverse plugin | Connect, Build and Operate skills that wrap the Dataverse MCP server, PAC CLI, Python SDK and Web API | Claude Code: pre-registered in the official marketplace. Copilot CLI: from github/awesome-copilot |
microsoftdocs/mcp | Microsoft Docs: grounds the agent in current, official Microsoft Learn documentation | Add it once per machine |
Install them in your agent
Pick the agent you chose in Step 3. The skills are the same everywhere; only the install differs.
1. Add the marketplaces
Inside a Claude Code session (desktop app or CLI):
/plugin marketplace add microsoft/power-platform-skills
/plugin marketplace add microsoftdocs/mcp
Or from your terminal, without opening a session:
claude plugin marketplace add microsoft/power-platform-skills
claude plugin marketplace add microsoftdocs/mcp
# confirm they registered
claude plugin marketplace list
The Dataverse plugin is already registered in Claude's official marketplace, so there's nothing to add for it.
2. Install the plugins
Desktop app: click the + button next to the prompt box, choose Plugins, then browse and install. No commands needed.
CLI or slash command:
# From the official Claude marketplace (pre-registered)
/plugin install dataverse@claude-plugins-official
# From the microsoft/power-platform-skills marketplace
/plugin install power-pages@power-platform-skills
/plugin install canvas-apps@power-platform-skills
/plugin install power-automate@power-platform-skills
/plugin install model-apps@power-platform-skills
/plugin install code-apps-preview@power-platform-skills # still preview
# From the microsoftdocs/mcp marketplace: official docs grounding
/plugin install microsoft-docs@microsoft-docs-marketplace
Restart your session (or run /reload) and the new skills appear when you type /.
Fastest: the one line installer
Microsoft's installer detects Copilot CLI, installs PAC CLI, registers the marketplace and installs the plugins:
# macOS / Linux / Windows (cmd)
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/microsoft/power-platform-skills/main/scripts/install.js | node
# Windows (PowerShell)
iwr https://raw.githubusercontent.com/microsoft/power-platform-skills/main/scripts/install.js -OutFile install.js; node install.js; del install.js
Or install by hand
# Power Platform skills (Power Pages, Canvas, Power Automate, Model-Driven, Code Apps preview)
copilot plugin marketplace add microsoft/power-platform-skills
copilot plugin install power-pages@power-platform-skills
copilot plugin install canvas-apps@power-platform-skills
copilot plugin install power-automate@power-platform-skills
copilot plugin install model-apps@power-platform-skills
copilot plugin install code-apps-preview@power-platform-skills # still preview
# Dataverse skill, via the Awesome Copilot marketplace
copilot plugin marketplace add github/awesome-copilot
copilot plugin install dataverse@awesome-copilot
# Microsoft Docs: official Microsoft Learn grounding
copilot plugin marketplace add microsoftdocs/mcp
copilot plugin install microsoft-docs@microsoft-docs-marketplace
Restart the session and the skills appear as slash commands. Invoke one by typing its command (/create-site) or just describe what you want; the agent picks the right skill, asks follow up questions, plans the work and runs it after you approve.
In VS Code you reach the skills a different way
Slash command plugins are an agent session feature (Claude Code and Copilot CLI). Inside the VS Code extension, Copilot Chat in Agent mode reaches the same Power Platform knowledge through MCP servers and chat participants:
- Power Pages: install the Power Platform Tools extension (preview), then type
@powerpagesin Copilot Chat for Liquid and JavaScript help grounded in your downloaded site. - Canvas apps: the canvas authoring MCP server (preview) generates and validates
.pa.yamlagainst a live Power Apps Studio coauthoring session. - Dataverse: the Dataverse MCP server, added in VS Code with MCP: Add Server. Connecting it to your environment is the next step of the journey.
Want the full slash command experience from inside VS Code? Open its terminal and use the GitHub Copilot CLI tab above. Many builders run both.
Several of these are preview features, and Dataverse MCP usage is billed. Check Microsoft's docs for current terms before you rely on them in production.
Check it worked
- Claude Code: run
claude plugin list, or type/in a session and look for skills like/dv-metadataand/create-site. - Copilot CLI: restart the session and type
/; the Power Platform skills are listed as slash commands. - Every skill, every plugin: the Builder Skills catalog lists each plugin's marketplace, status and commands, kept current.
Start with Dataverse and Microsoft Docs, then add the asset type plugins as the work demands. Each plugin you skip is one fewer thing competing for context in your session.
What comes next
Your agent now knows Power Platform. In Step 5 you connect it to a real Dataverse environment (the MCP server and PAC CLI), give it your conventions in a CLAUDE.md file, and ship your first build by directing AI. That walkthrough lives in the Inner Circle Academy, free for 7 days.
Connect to Dataverse and ship your first build.
Steps 5 and 6 live in the Inner Circle Academy: connecting your agent to a real environment, your CLAUDE.md conventions, the first build walkthrough, every book chapter and the live build calls twice a month.
